Beech Mountain’s Mile High Kite Festival

On Memorial Day weekend, FREE family friendly fun awaits on Beech Mountain, NC. Kids of all ages are invited to the meadow behind Famous Brick Oven Pizzeria (402 Beech Mountain Parkway) to cover Beech Mountain’s blue skies with kites of all shapes and colors. Our signature 5,560 feet in elevation, makes it easy to sail kites more than a mile above sea level. This beloved event features craft and food vendors, kite demonstrations, and music.
Don’t have a kite? Fret not! Free kites are provided for kids 12 and under to decorate (while supplies last). The event will be held on May 23rd, 2026 from 10am – 4pm, so join us for a cool day on Beech Mountain.
Tips:
● Bring a chair or blanket to sit on while you admire the kites flying above.
● Dress in layers and wear sunscreen. The weather can change fast atop a mountain!
● Make it a weekend at Beech Mountain:
(1) Take in the amazing views from the scenic chair lift rides at Ski Beech
(2) Visit Fred’s General Mercantile and purchase a souvenir (they also have a wide selection of outdoor clothing)
(3) Get back to nature with one of the miles of hiking and biking trails atop the mountain.
