Job Description
The After School/Summer Camp Substitute is responsible for overseeing students who are enrolled in WYN’s afterschool program. The person in this position will supervise and build relationships with school age students, assist with academics, and maintain a structured and safe environment for the students. This person will drive kids as necessary.
Qualifications:
The After School/Summer Camp Substitute must have a valid driver’s license, background check, and three positive references.
Position Responsibilities (Afterschool and Summer Camp):
Support the facilitation of developmentally appropriate activities for groups of participating students to support the program mission and goals. Be actively involved and supervising participants at all times. Participants should be in line of vision of an adult staff at all times. Designated high-risk participants should be within a few feet of an adult as much as possible. Take student head counts on a regular basis. Communicate student activities and program information to parents/guardians as needed. Organize and set up equipment as necessary to carry out program activities. Help with evening clean up and securing of all facilities. Develop and maintain a supportive and professional rapport with students. Follow the direction of site staff in maintaining a safe environment
Supervision:
The Substitute will report to County Afterschool Staff Location: Ashe, Avery, Alleghany, and Watauga Counties Hours of Work: This is on an as needed basis. Afterschool hours are from approx. 2-6 and summer hours are 8-5:30.
