Position Overview
The Avery County Chamber of Commerce is seeking a dynamic and service-oriented Member Relations Coordinator to support the growth and engagement of our membership community. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of member relations, including new member acquisition, retention of current members, customer service, billing coordination, and administrative support for member events and communications.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, personable, and passionate about supporting local businesses and strengthening the Avery County business community.

Key Responsibilities

Member Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Chamber members, providing excellent customer service and support.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing members to ensure satisfaction and long-term retention.
  • Conduct outreach to current members to encourage engagement with Chamber programs, events, and opportunities.
  • Assist with onboarding new members, ensuring they understand and utilize their membership benefits.

New Member Development

  • Identify and pursue opportunities to recruit new Chamber members.
  • Conduct outreach through calls, emails, and in-person visits to local businesses.
  • Present the value of Chamber membership and guide prospective members through the enrollment process.

Member Events & Programs

  • Provide administrative support for Chamber events including networking events, ribbon cuttings, workshops, and member programs.
  • Assist with event logistics, registrations, and follow-up communication.
  • Coordinate with staff and volunteers to ensure successful event execution.

Member Billing & Administration

  • Manage member billing and dues processes, including invoicing, payment tracking, and renewals.
  • Maintain accurate member records in the Chamber’s database system.
  • Prepare reports related to membership growth, retention, and engagement.

Communication & Marketing Support

  • Assist with member communications including newsletters, announcements, and updates.
  • Ensure members are informed about Chamber programs, benefits, and opportunities.
  • Support promotion of members through Chamber channels.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in customer service, sales, membership organizations, or nonprofit administration is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort with database or CRM systems.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative team environment.
