The Woolly Worm Woad Wace is a 5 mile footrace that takes place on the Saturday morning the week of the Woolly Worm Festival (the race is the third weekend in October). This 5 mile race takes a cross country/road race journey through the back roads and beautiful landscape of Avery County. This is a challenging and fun race because of the terrain.
The 2009 Woolly Worm Woad Wace begins at the Lees-McRae College track in Banner Elk on Saturday October 17th starting at 10:00 AM. Pre-register or arrive at 9:00 AM the day of race. The entry fee is $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the race. (Entry fees are non-transferable and non-refundable.) MC and Visa are accepted with a $3.00 added fee for processing.
All participants receive the official race t-shirt, and access to post race refreshment area. Prizes are awarded to top male and female runner and to the top three finishers in each division. Championship Timing ensures everyone receives an accurate time (awards are based on gun time).
